Challenge - Week 47

"The best we can hope for in this life is a knothole peek at the shining realities ahead. Yet a glimpse is enough. It's enough to convince our hearts that whatever sufferings and sorrows currently assail us aren't worthy of comparison to that which waits over the horizon"
-Joni Eareckson Tada

This Week

I only had two days for my pictures this week. It seemed like the logical choice was to find the knothole. I got it. I also had to include some form of life and I might as well find a sun shot since it was shining. I also brought out an old Merganser picture.

These Mergansers were swimming close ENOUGH to provide a COMPARISON of the females of two different species.

Challenge 47You can PEEK through this KNOTHOLE to get a GLIMPSE of the ground beneath it.
Challenge 47This Bewick's Wren is one form of LIFE that I encountered this weekend.

Flickr Friday - On The Sunny Side

I originally wanted to go after a sunrise similar to one I saw back in January. When I got up this morning, we had a pretty dense fog. I wasn't going to get the sunrise I wanted. In fact, it stayed cloudy for most of my walk (filtered sunlight appeared towards the end) and I decided to use a picture taken more for the family photo challenge. Here's how it was posted:

So I'm supposed to look for sunny weather in Washington during the fall? Believe it or not, I actually saw the fireball hovering over the Chambers Bay Golf Course (late in my walk after the fog burned off).
