There's one species of Cormorant that I don't think I have shared yet in this countdown. This is a Pelagic Cormorant (Phalacrocorax pelagicus). Usually, this will appear to be our least distinctive Cormorant, and the lack of color by the bill along with the lack of the light patch at the base of the bill can help with identification. When they reach breeding plumage, they develop the hairdo seen above and a white patch on the rump that is distinctive in flight.
