125 Days until the US Open at Chambers Bay

I have been walking Chambers Creek Properties for years. I have been carrying a camera since 2009. With the US Open coming to the Chambers Bay Golf Course, which is part of the property, I have decided to share a picture each day for the 365 days leading up to the tournament. The US Open is scheduled to begin on June 18, 2015. As of today, we are 125 days away. Today's Picture:
Hooded Merganser
Taken on February 19, 2012

Hooded Mergansers (Lophodytes cucullatus) have been using the creek lately. When most arrive, they look roughly the same. The males have been showing their typical breeding plumage for the last month or so, so I'm confident that this one taken in February 2012 was a female.

Today obviously had to be a bird since this is the start of the Great Backyard Bird Count. For February 13-16, I will be counting birds at the park and a few other locations. This is nothing particularly unusual for me, but I will be a little more detailed in my notes. If you would like to participate, visit http://gbbc.birdcount.org.
