318 Days until the US Open at Chambers Bay

I have been walking Chambers Creek Properties for years. I have been carrying a camera since 2009. With the US Open coming to the Chambers Bay Golf Course, which is part of the property, I have decided to share a picture each day for the 365 days leading up to the tournament. The US Open is scheduled to begin on June 18, 2015. As of today, we are 318 days away. Today's Picture:

Taken on August 4, 2013

This is another shot of our state bird, the Willow Goldfinch (Carduelis tristis). You might have noticed that this one looks a bit different from the others I have shared. Although the species shows sexual dimorphism (males look different from females), that's actually not the reason for how this one looks. This is an immature Goldfinch. It's almost entirely a dull yellow, like the adult female. Unlike the adult female, the wing bars are similar in color to the body instead of white. Non-breeding plumage is similar, but we generally don't have to worry about that since they are found primarily in summer.
