Challenge - Week 31

If children have the ability to ignore all odds and percentages, then maybe we can all learn from them.  When you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope?  We have two options, medically and emotionally; give up, or fight.  - Lance Armstrong (Note: the use of this quote should not be viewed as tolerance of Lance Armstrong's wrongdoings)

This Week

For those who get sick of my weather-related complaints, I can now defend myself. July 2013 was statistically the fifth worst month that we have ever recorded. We actually received a momentary break and received more rain in one day than the entire month of July. That's right, we actually had measurable rain! I guess I'm back to the complaints because we seem to be headed back to the warm and dry pattern that has been giving me problems.

Before I share this week's pictures, I wanted to point out that I'm a little worried about turning to the Ospreys too much. We have learn and ability, and the Ospreys recently started flying. How could I resist? To make up for it, I added another picture for children. That's why I have Purple Martins this week.

As for my old picture. I saw altercations between Eagles and Ospreys two days in a row last week. Since I didn't find any good fights this week (the Eagle dropped behind a building), I figured that I would go back to last week and add one of those pictures. Due to my backlog, the old picture is a new upload.

Pictures

Challenge 31 - Fight***Old Picture***
Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) FIGHTING with a Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) at Chambers Creek Properties
Challenge 31This is one of TWO Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) CHILDREN from a nest on a bridge that has LEARNED the ABILITY to fly.
Challenge 31 - PercentagesIt's hard to be certain in this group, but I believe it consists of about 94 PERCENT Gulls and 6 PERCENT Terns.
Challenge 31 - ChildrenThe CHILDREN of a Purple Martin (Progne subis) family on the South Dock at Chambers Creek Properties
Challenge 31Since I couldn't get a shot that resulted from driver idiocy last week, I'll settle for driver idiocy number TWO. Some people make CHOICES that seem to IGNORE rational THINKING. This was obviously not a good OPTION. By the way, some people really need to clean up their litter. Our parks deserve better than this.

Other Ideas

My car picture could have easily been displaced by something I saw last week (as hinted at in my description). A drunk driver rammed a gate at the top of the Soundview Trail near the North Meadow at Chambers Creek Properties. I could have used similar words for a seriously mangled gate, and I could have also added "Emotionally" in the description since I found a little more background on that incident.

With my backlog, this wasn't a theme worth pursuing. Even if I didn't have a backlog, I'm just not sure about this one.
