357 Days until the US Open at Chambers Bay

I have been walking Chambers Creek Properties for years. I have been carrying a camera since 2009. With the US Open coming to the Chambers Bay Golf Course, which is part of the property, I have decided to share a picture each day for the 365 days leading up to the tournament. The US Open is scheduled to begin on June 18, 2015. As of today, we are 357 days away. Today's Picture:

Taken on May 17, 2012

I believe most of my Greater Yellowlegs (Tringa melanoleuca) sightings have been in spring or early summer. I didn't want to wait until late summer to share this large sandpiper. Most of my sightings have been confined to two locations. The first is by the creek below the dam. Low tide helps with this one since they like the sand. The other location is the ditch-like area between the Central Meadow and the sorting bins, which can provide closer views. Since this isn't just a speck, it was obviously taken near the Central Meadow. Perhaps the reason I don't see them as much later in the summer is because they like water and the more camera-friendly location tends to dry out.
