Each winter, hundreds of Brandt's Cormorants (Phalacrocorax penicillatus) find the North Dock. While they have lives beyond that dock, they can frequently be seen lining it. Because the county is removing the old docks, this is going to change. I expect sightings to see a drastic decline. It's one of three cormorant species that we attract, and the most numerous. All three use the North Dock, sometimes at the same time. For this particular species look for the light patch near the base of the bill.
