192 Days until the US Open at Chambers Bay

I have been walking Chambers Creek Properties for years. I have been carrying a camera since 2009. With the US Open coming to the Chambers Bay Golf Course, which is part of the property, I have decided to share a picture each day for the 365 days leading up to the tournament. The US Open is scheduled to begin on June 18, 2015. As of today, we are 192 days away. For a more complete collection of my local photos, visit https://www.flickr.com/photos/maritimeorca/tags/chamberscreekproperties/

Today's Picture:
Red-breasted Sapsucker
Taken on December 8, 2012

Red-breasted Sapsuckers (Sphyrapicus ruber) can be found in the area throughout the year, but the best time to find them is during the winter. There are a couple trees in the Canyon that they visit somewhat regularly during our cooler months. Just veer left when the main trail break apart. When you reach the creek, you will have trees to your left and right where they have been seen several time in the past. The closest encounters are usually on the tree to your right, which is close to the water. You might find one low, but it may also try to hide on the backside.
