133 Days until the US Open at Chambers Bay

I have been walking Chambers Creek Properties for years. I have been carrying a camera since 2009. With the US Open coming to the Chambers Bay Golf Course, which is part of the property, I have decided to share a picture each day for the 365 days leading up to the tournament. The US Open is scheduled to begin on June 18, 2015. As of today, we are 133 days away. Today's Picture:
Red-throated Loon
Taken on February 5, 2012

We have actually had a pretty good winter for Red-throated Loons (Gavia stellata). These birds are seen during the winter months primarily on salt water, although I have seen one in the pond by the Central Meadow as well. While in non-breeding plumage, they are a rather indistinct black and white with no signs of the red throat. One key to identification is the bill held at an upward angle.
