280 Days until the US Open at Chambers Bay

I have been walking Chambers Creek Properties for years. I have been carrying a camera since 2009. With the US Open coming to the Chambers Bay Golf Course, which is part of the property, I have decided to share a picture each day for the 365 days leading up to the tournament. The US Open is scheduled to begin on June 18, 2015. As of today, we are 280 days away. Today's Picture:
Whimbrel
Taken on September 11, 2011

This time of year, you might want to look for migratory birds. Among the species you might encounter is the Whimbrel (Numenius phaeopus). This is a type of Curlew that I have encountered multiple times at the Central Meadow and the beach. While I don't personally consider sightings to be unusual, this is a species that eBird considers to be rare for Pierce County.
