296 Days until the US Open at Chambers Bay

I have been walking Chambers Creek Properties for years. I have been carrying a camera since 2009. With the US Open coming to the Chambers Bay Golf Course, which is part of the property, I have decided to share a picture each day for the 365 days leading up to the tournament. The US Open is scheduled to begin on June 18, 2015. As of today, we are 296 days away. Sandpipers are much easier to photograph walking along the beach than in flight. That's no reason to give up on trying for the action shot. This Western Sandpiper (Calidris mauri) was coming in for a landing. The predictability of the landing location combined with the slowing as it approached the shore made it slightly easier to capture an image of the bird while it was still airborne.
